Temu ireng

Temu ireng ( Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb. ) is a member of Ginger family. It plays an important role in household traditional medicine. Part used is its rhizome. Used as an anthelminthic and appetite enhancer in children. When I was a child, when my appetite was not good, my mother made a remedy for me in this way. Caeruginosa rhizome (root) was stumped and made into a poultice, then mixed with a little bit brown sugar, a little bit of crunched anise seeds, then wrapped in a banana leaf, then put it in a rice cooker and cooked during 15 minutes, then took it out from the cooker. When the thing was cold enough, press and squeese it and pour its water into a cup, through a clean cloth. Then, my mother let me drink the liquid. It was bitter, but my mother forced me. Then, she thought my appetite became better again.
